THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES / Joyous annual celebration on the Lord's prophetic calendar
Nations shall go up, worship the King and keep the Feast
On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight.
And the name of the city from that day shall be: 'THE LORD IS THERE.' (Ezekiel 48:35)
And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. (Zechariah 14:16)
E very year, thousands of Christians from nations around the world come together in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. They come to worship the LORD, to demonstrate their trust in His word and promises concerning Israel, to encourage the Jewish people, and to do mighty exploits in God’s name. These Christians anticipate that one year, during this Feast, the LORD will pour out His spirit on the nation of Israel – ‘the former and latter rain’ that will bring the entire nation into relationship with their God, and into their glorious destiny.
A momentous and earth-changing work of the Lord is underway. Focusing on Israel – the nation He is restoring to His land – it is the clear and unmistakeable purpose of God to draw the attention of all of us who love Him to that which He is poised to do in and with His people. More than that, it is the heart of our Father that we be involved with Him, not merely watching and applauding from the sidelines, but coming alongside and embracing this nation, to stand with them through all that lies ahead.
F oretold repeatedly through the prophets of old is God’s intention to gather His dispersed Chosen People from the four corners of the globe and bring them back into their own land. We are living in the middle of the realization of this pledge. To the mortification of the God-rejecting nations, the Jews are being returned to, and planted in, the land determined by Divine decree to be exclusively and forever theirs. They have a date with their God.
