April 18, 2018: Today – as Israel Remembers
On Israel’s Memorial Day, when the people of Israel remember the 23,645 of their people who have fallen in war or been murdered by terrorists since the rebirth of their national home, this little girl reads out a letter to her dad, Elad Solomon (36), who was killed last July 21, along with two other members of the family by a 19-year-old Arab while celebrating the birth of a new grandchild. The video shows the unimaginable pain of this little girl’s personal loss, but also speaks to the nationwide mourning happening today.
Watching, you will see the quietness and stoicism of the mother, the widow, who holding back her own hurting, encourages her little girl to complete the letter. See too the responses in the audience, so many of whom, like so many in this nation, have suffered this inexplicable separation from those they love – just because they are Jews.
